Aspartame (NutraSweet/Equal/Spoonful/E951/Canderel) is in thousands of foods and on every restaurant table for the exact reasons tobacco is everywhere: Greed, addiction and profit. During Aspartame awareness weekend, Sept 5-7, 2008, Mission Possible is encouraging the already "aspartame aware" to pressure restaurants into removing aspartame as a sweetener option available to customers.
Why? While aspartame may be sweet to the taste, it is a potentially deadly neurotoxic, methanol-containing poison and it is bad business for restaurateurs to kill their customers.
Aspartame reacts with virtually all drugs and vaccines due to damage to the mitochondria or life of the cell. It is a molecule composed of three components: Aspartic acid, phenylalanine and a methyl ester-which immediately becomes methanol. Once ingested the methanol, wood alcohol that has killed or blinded thousands of skid row drunks, converts into formaldehyde, then formic acid (ant sting poison). Formaldehyde is deadly embalming fluid, a class A carcinogen. Phenylalanine and aspartic acid are toxic when unaccompanied by the other amino acids present in food proteins. Aspartic acid caused brain lesions in experimental animals. The molecule breaks down to diketopiperazine, a brain tumor agent.
According to the Brain Tumor Society, facts updated May 24, 2007, brain tumors are the leading cause of solid tumor cancer death in children under the age of 20, now surpassing acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Aspartame also triggers birth defects and mental retardation, as well as behavioral problems. There is not even a warning for pregnant women. Dr. M. Soffritti, in the Ramazzini Study in 2005, proved aspartame to be a "multipotential carcinogen" causing leukemia, lymphoma, kidney cancer and other cancers. Dr. Soffritti's recent study showed it only takes a small amount of aspartame to cause cancer and can be passed from mother to child.
Further, aspartame can precipitate diabetes, simulates and aggravates diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy, destroys the optic nerve, causes diabetics to go into convulsions and even interacts with insulin. Aspartame is linked to diabetes and obesity. Aspartame makes us crave carbohydrates as discussed in the congressional record.
Could it get any worse? The formaldehyde embalms living tissue and damages DNA. Destroy DNA and you can destroy humanity. Further, aspartame triggers an irregular heart rhythm, interacts with cardiac Rx, damages the cardiac conduction system and causes sudden death, the reason so many athletes have dropped dead.
The FDA lists 92 documented symptoms of aspartame consumption. The list includes headaches, dizziness, seizures, numbness, weight gain, rashes, hearing loss, fatigue irritability, blindness, addiction, vertigo, anxiety, tinnitus, loss of taste, nausea, memory loss, joint pain, insomnia, palpitations, blurry vision, depression, weakness and death.
The U.S. Air Force Magazine Flying Safety (May, 1992) explained: "People have suffered aspartame related disorders with doses as small as that carried in a single stick of chewing gum. This could mean a pilot who drinks diet sodas is more susceptible to flicker vertigo or to flicker-induced epileptic activity. It also means that all pilots are potential victims of sudden memory loss, dizziness, during instrument flight and gradual loss of vision."
Some diseases triggered by aspartame are brain tumors, chronic fatigue, mental retardation, multiple sclerosis, Epstein Barr, lymphoma, epilepsy, Parkinson's, birth defects, fibromyalgia, Alzheimer's, systemic lupus, Graves Disease, diabetes and death.

James Bowen, M.D. said in his paper, "The Lethal Science of Splenda, A Poisonous Chlorocarbon," that sucralose (Splenda) is simply chlorinated sugar, or a "chlorocarbon." Common chlorocarbons include carbon tetrachloride, trichlorethelene and methyene chloride, all deadly. Chlorine is nature's Doberman attack dog, a highly excitable, ferocious atomic element employed as a biocide in bleach, disinfectants, insecticide, WWI poison gas and hydrochloric acid.
Sucralose is a molecule of sugar chemically manipulated to surrender three hydroxyl groups (hydrogen + oxygen) and replace them with three chlorine atoms. Natural sugar is a hydrocarbon built around 12 carbon atoms. When turned into Splenda it becomes a chlorocarbon. Other famous chlorocarbons include Chlorodane, Lindane and DDT. A judge in California has scheduled a billion dollar suit against the manufacturers of Splenda to be heard in January, 2009.
