Dear Honorable Pete Hodgson:

Received today is a letter from your private secretary, Katherine Bell. She says: "The Hon Pete Hodgson, Minister of Health, has asked me to thank you for your correspondence dated 31 July 2007 regarding safe food in schools. As the matter you have raised falls within the responsibility of the Minister of Food Safety, Hon Annette King, I have referred your correspondence to that office for consideration."

I thought if there was some contract to put diet drinks in schools it would be made by the Minister of Health. Obviously, after reading the Report For Schools, articles by renowned experts, and Feingold, the ADD people, you now know aspartame (951/NutraSweet/Equal) is a deadly addictive excitoneurotoxic carcinogenic drug that not only interacts with drugs and vaccines but destroys the brains of children, and triggers birth defects and mental retardation. Here is a letter to the FDA today that aspartame disease is an imminent health hazard and should immediately be banned.

I met with your Food Standards recently. They said no studies have been done there and they have always relied on the FDA. The New Zealand Food Safety Authority uses industry propaganda which was rebutted by mail with documentation in July. They recently claimed in several press releases there was no scientific evidence to show aspartame toxicity. Yet, I came from America with the scientific evidence and they refused to meet with me and accept it. Translation: "Don't bother us with the facts, we don't want the evidence."

As to Annette King, Minister of Food Safety, you will see a letter from her five years ago below saying if there is credible scientific evidence they would review it. She ignored the documentation as she did the many victims who wrote her. Abby Cormack almost died from the toxin in Wrigley's gum. It's especially dangerous in gum because it goes through saliva straight to the brain, like nitroglycerin under the tongue. I came to NZ with the scientific evidence of aspartame toxicity, and admission by an FDA toxicologist that it causes cancer, I stood at the door of the NZFSA waiting, but they would not let me in. Refusal to accept scientific peer reviewed research and government documents shows inexcusable contempt for public health.

Example: When NZFSA said there was no toxic breakdown I sent them the Trocho Study, scientifically peer reviewed, showing the formaldehyde converted from the free methyl alcohol embalms living tissue and damages DNA.

H. J. Roberts, M.D., FACP, FCCP, just released a book based on 50 years of research and practice. "Protecting Mankind, One Physician's Quest." He quotes a correspondent from the UK who suffered aspartame disease, along with her brother and son: "I find it very disturbing that the so-called protectors of our health (FDA) encourage us to consume a poison that ultimately I can see bringing the entire population to its knees and rendering the people of this world drastically defective as a species." That's what can happen when you damage DNA. Dr. Roberts wrote the medical text, "Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic", 1000 pages of symptoms and diseases triggered by this neurotoxic, carcinogenic drug including mechanisms and drug interactions.

Dr. Bill Deagle in Nova Scotia who has seen aspartame made, described the process. It's two genetically engineered amino acids grown in E. coli bound with a methyl ester that immediately becomes methyl alcohol. Methanol breaks down to formaldehyde and formic acid, ant sting poison. It's a black toxic sludge pressed into a white powder. The whole molecule breaks down to diketopiperazine, a brain tumor agent that triggered brain tumors in original studies. Aspartic acid (40% of aspartame) is an excitotoxin that stimulates the neurons of the brain to death. ("Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills" by neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, M.D.). Dr. John Olney, world renowned neuroscientist, founded the excitotoxicity field of neuroscience when he did a study on aspartic acid. As an isolate it caused lesions in the brains of mice. Phenylalanine as an isolate, and 50% of the aspartame molecule, lowers the seizure threshold and depletes serotonin triggering psychiatric and behavioral problems.

Why does NZFSA protect the manufacturers of this deadly chemical poison so slavishly? Abby Cormack was chewing Wrigley's gum with aspartame and almost died. As news spread others came forward after abstaining from aspartame and their symptoms disappeared. Annette King wrote: "I note your views are widely publicised and have the potential to create considerable concern." She like NZFSA seems only to be concerned about the news getting out. Of course, there is much concern. It's a global epidemic, as evidenced by the title of the medical text, "Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic." There are Aspartame Detoxification Clinics, an Aspartame Toxicity Center, and even a documentary on how aspartame has poisoned the world, "Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World",,p> As Dr. Roberts explains in "Protecting Mankind", "Its manifestations include major neuropsychiatric afflictions, the aggravation of diabetes mellitus and its complications, paradoxic obesity, addiction and brain tumors - for starters. Moreover, aspartame reactions can simulate multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and a host of other conditions. ... The behavioral and psychiatric features of aspartame disease in teenagers have been erroneously ascribed to conventional drug abuse, such as use of "meth"...culminating in added personal misery."

I came to New Zealand as a messenger with records of credentialed experts who have been warning the public for over two decades. The Ramazzini Study was peer reviewed by 7 world experts, confirming FDA's original records that aspartame is a multipotential carcinogen. NZFSA, rather than being concerned for the public ignored it. Are the only studies acceptable those funded and controlled by the manufacturer? You cannot take a poison and make it safe. That's why FDA asked for indictment of Searle, the original maker in l977. They got caught in the cover-up.

In a separate email I will send you a letter to Annette King five years ago. She was even warned about another aspartame product, Neotame. All data was ignored, and Neotame was approved.

I respectfully ask that a serious effort be made to examine the toxicity of this deadly chemical. All the scientific peer reviewed research is available. After a study on additives sponsored by Food Standards in the UK showed behavioral problems and temper tantrums, large food chains like Sainsburys, Tesco, Marks & Spencer, etc. sent out press releases that they would remove aspartame from their products. Yet in New Zealand there is an effort to put all diet (aspartame) drinks in schools. Aspartame reduces IQ. It triggers memory loss, confusion, blindness and sudden cardiac death. It can precipitate diabetes, interacts with insulin, makes you crave carbohydrates resulting in obesity, and can destroy the brains of children. My question is why the NZFSA and Annette King haven't done anything about it all these years? The scientific evidence has been ignored, and NZFSA would not receive the messenger because they didn't want the message. We're in 38 nations warning the public, the epidemic is extremely serious.

Both the Ministry of Health and the New Zealand Food Safety Authority, which was established on 1 July 2002, are committed to ensuring food is safe. While nothing can be deemed totally safe for all consumers, health agencies around the world, including New Zealand, will review the use of a substance in food if credible scientific evidence is presented.
